MC Fin — I just stumbled on yr comment on my blog post — amazing! I have to ask if you’re the 10-yr-old that was waiting in Brisbane for the Seahawk? In any case, if yr mom is the Christine in my account I am flabbergasted, delighted, and embarrassed all at the same time. In some versions of this piece I had changed all the names, even the boat, but thinking that enough time had passed by now, not in this one. I am left to hope that Christine and Michael eventually parted company, and that he will never chance on this story in which he frankly takes it on the chin. But the thought that Christine got to read it all these years later warms my heart and makes my day. Joseph

Yes I am that young lad.
Mum and Michael ended up parting ways approx 5yrs later and selling Seahawk.
We have since heard Michael passed away may he RIP 🙏

Michael — It took me a while but I finally figured out how to get notified of comments so this time it didn’t take six months. I am still amazed by this whole business. I just turned 80 and it’s the first time a character in one of my stories of footloose adventure many decades ago has suddenly and unexpectedly turned up in the present. Since you said that you enjoyed the reading I assume you were able to forgive me for recounting all the trash talk around me and your dad. I’m not proud of my behavior, but at least I did get the job done and got everyone safely to Brisbane. It was touch and go there for a while.
I would love to touch base with Christine. So grateful that you reached out.
