I am a 81-year-old retired RN living in Astoria, Oregon where the Columbia River empties into the Pacific Ocean. Born in Manhatten and raised in Hollywood I have lived here for 57 years now and am well settled in by now, though I did spend five years scratching my way around the world on the cheap in the 80s when the opportunity was there. There are a number of accounts from that adventure on this blog.
I am a musician as well as a writer, have worked in theater and radio in the past, and have a continuing interest in photography, politics, history and spirituality. Recent post-retirement adventures have included river rafting the entire Grand Canyon in 2011, climbing Mt Rainier in 2012, trekking the Mt Everest area in 2013, diving with whale sharks in the Sea of Cortez in 2014, and spending 4 weeks wandering around Cuba in 2017.
Nevertheless the erosions of age have finally compelled me into a somewhat more sedentary life, and since over the years I have promised many friends to try and get some of my stories into print, this seems like a good time to focus on writing, and this seems like a good platform to practice on. While WordPress is easy I hear, I struggle to get this site to look and work the way I want it to, but in time I hope to get a handle on it and nudge some of my best work, such as it is — audio, visual, and print — into public view. Welcome!
I want to publish my article on your website . I am ready to pay you via PayPal.
